Generating electricity

The solar panels are in place

Our photovoltaic panels are in place on the roof and the electronics are completed; we are now generating electricity.  Admittedly the weather is horrible, overcast and raining, and so the output since 3pm has been very small but it’s a start.  We have a little meter giving the output and it will be easy to get a little obsessive wanting to keep an eye on the numbers.  The scaffolding is still up but once it is removed all should be done.  Now there is the inevitable form to be filled in so that we can start claiming the feed-in tariff and thus start getting back the money on the investment.

Meanwhile one of the young house martins had an exploratory fly around this morning and found itself precariously clinging to the wall just below the nest.  It got itself back in and seems to have stayed in the safety of its home.  Today was not the day to decide to explore with all the coming and going onto the roof.

Fantastic! I look forward to reading the cost/benefit analysis!

Duncan is already working on it and has started a spreadsheet so we are ready for our first full day of generation. Not looking great weatherwise again though.
