Duncan was back at Holystone a couple of days ago. It was early May when the site was last visited; it has been late April or early May when the annual visit is made with a group of students for many years. This July visit went to show how different the summer growth can be, not least in the bracken swathing large parts of the open heathland. Down at the Yardhope Oaks the dark green growth is a far cry from the barely bursting buds of early May.
